Having joined Sopartec at the beginning of 2006, Michèle deals with the management of the portfolio of patents of the Université catholique de Louvain and the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc in the domain broadly defined as Life Sciences.
She reviews the most suitable strategy for protection (evaluation of patentability and other protection tools) of innovative technologies from research laboratories specialising in life sciences related to health, biotechnologies, chemistry and materials. Working in cooperation with the patent attorneys, she then helps with the drafting and the filing of patent applications and leads the examination of these applications by the Patent Offices.
Michele obtained a doctorate in chemical science, cellular biochemistry orientation, from the Université catholique de Louvain. During her doctoral research she did an introductory course in the issues related to patents in scientific research. She then worked as a freelance translator of patents.
